We Who Defy Hate - PilotTuesday, May 17 at 1:00 PM
Meadville Lombard Theological School |
Every faith tradition speaks to the idea of creating a more just and loving world. Learning how to live toward that goal, however, is hard and complicated work. We Who Defy Hate is an experiential exercise designed to support people of different faith traditions who want to find places of common ground and solidarity in the service of social justice and action. Come experience the idea-in-practice and see how to take it to your community.
Join us for this interfaith gathering to pilot We Who Defy Hate, a companion discussion series for the soon to be released PBS documentary, Defying the Nazis: The Sharps' War. Participants will experience the spirit of the curriculum. Academics, Ministers, Religious Educators, & students are invited to participate. The film will be shown as part of the afternoon's event.

In partnership with the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s initiative on Americans and the Holocaust, we are pleased to announce a public program series, Two Americans Who Defied the Nazis. Utilizing a portion of the film, the program tells the story of the American couple whose courageous acts saved thousands of lives. The series will emphasize the tremendous impact of the Sharp’s efforts while exploring the broader notion of rescue, and highlighting the importance of the Museum’s collections efforts to rescue the evidence of the Holocaust.

Watch to witness an amazing encounter at an earlier USHMM event between Director, Artemis Joukowsky and an audience member whose grandmother was rescued by Waitstill Sharp.
